COTES - The Society for Consumer Economists and Technologists

This Society, established in 1953, is the educational branch of the Finnish Association of Academic Agronomists (FAAA), which is a member of the Confederation of Unions for Academic Professionals (AKAVA).


COTES

- oversees the financial, professional and social advantages of its members

- provides pronouncements on home economics, consumer and nutrition policy as well as advice on matters concerning education

- organises appropriate professional training and recreational activities

- and also participates in national and international events.


Our education

Members of COTES have an academic education in
- consumer economics
- household technology or
- nutritional science.

The B. Sc. takes four years to complete and the M.Sc. degree takes approximately five years. Post-graduate studies lead to Lic. Sc. and Ph.D.


Our members are engaged in a link between

- consumer
- household
- business life and
- the authorities.

Our members are involved in many tasks including research, training and organisation counselling, and active engagement in the service of business life.

The manifold, extensive and practical nature of our education prepares members to become specialists in many different fields.
